Two new smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy lineup have been recently made official in China and are expected to become available over the coming weeks.
One is the Galaxy Win, which leaked yesterday over the Internet, and the other is the Galaxy Trend 2, a low-end to mid-range smartphone.
The Galaxy Win looks the same as it did in the leaked pictures. It's basically a cheaper version of the Galaxy S3 and Android fans should be advised that this will definitely not be a top tier device.
Specs include a 4.7-inch display with a sub-par 800 x 480 resolution and low pixel density at 199 ppi. Other features include a disappointing 5 MP rear-facing camera, a 0.3 front-facing camera and a 2,000 mAh battery. However, the device does include a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Pricing and release date are still unknown, as is on-board memory and RAM.
As for the Galaxy Trend 2, the device appears to be a follow-up to the Galaxy Trend. It also looks quite similar to the Galaxy S3 and comes with a 4-inch screen and the same resolution as the Win. The remaining features are sub-par, including a 3 MP camera, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 1,500 mAh battery. There is also no confirmation of a price or release date.
Both devices are expected to be competitively priced and it is unclear if Samsung will offer the Win and Trend 2 outside of Asia. It would seem reasonable that Samsung is planning to market the two smartphones for emerging markets.
