The Xbox One controller is about to get an update, as confirmed by Microsoft. More specifically, the company will roll out new features for the guide/home button as well as enhancements to current features. The change will allow access to several others and will theoretically change the gaming experience altogether by providing easy access to players.
According to Game Spot, the update will make it easier for players to perform common tasks. By pressing the guide button, which normally just leads the player to the home screen, players will now be provided with the Guide feature. It will appear on the left-hand side of the screen.
The Guide feature, which appears as a sidebar, is accessible throughout Xbox One use. This means that players can visit the same even while recording footage, voice chatting, browsing the Xbox Store or even during gameplay. And as Cinema Blend adds, it provides users easy access to modify the GameDVR settings, which can now be recorded. Moreover, the update allows users to adjust this recording time.
Windows also confirmed that it will be adding a new Achievement tracking overlay, GameScore Leaderboard, and a new Cortana design. Another addition is controls for background music. What might be the most important, however, is that Microsoft is revamping some of Xbox's more popular multitasking features, which will theoretically enhance the overall gameplay experience.
The entire concept is to make it easier to use the Xbox One, as well as give the home button more use. And as the publication notes, it ties well into the quality of life feature for gamers who currently play on Windows 10 - Game Mode. This was teased a while back and it was claimed that the release would allow for better performance in games, as well as make it easier for users to get visual quality.
