Toddlers have finally arrived in The Sims 4 after over two years. The installment received backlash when it was launched due to omitting the adorable life stage, but now players can have their babies grow up to be bigger babies first before becoming a child.
It seems that The Sims 4 toddlers will be more interactive than ever. Players will be more attentive to the little Sims for "heart-warming moments" that SimGuru Lyndsay Pearson promised in a blog post. Flash cards are also in; they can now be used to teach the little Sims how to talk, go potty and other skills.
According to Pearson, The Sims 4 team has also added new animations, interactions, outfits and objects. Judging by its release trailer, there are new hairstyles, too that can make toddlers a whole lot cuter. "But most importantly," the producer adds, "we've bridged a really meaningful part of your Sims' lives."
Arriving alongside toddlers is a set of new skills and traits. The big babies can generally improve their movement, thinking, communication, imagination and potty skills by interacting with the world around them or with the help of flash cards and their caregiver.
The movement skill allows them to perform to dance, climb a flight of stairs, climb it faster and more as it levels up. A toddler with high-level thinking skills stops tantrums and toilet splashing but learns to ask why. High communication skills enable the little ones to tell stories and potty skills lessen diaper use. Lastly, imagination skills make a little Sim appreciate art, read books and more.
There are also eight new traits, namely Fussy, Clingy, Wild, Angelic, Charmer, Silly, Independent and Inquisitive. The behavior of the toddlers in The Sims 4 depends a lot on their traits. They can either be playful, prefer being alone or others. Some traits also hasten learning specific skills.
The Sims 4 Toddlers update can now be downloaded for free. Following is the Vampires Game Pack that will be released on Jan. 24.
