While in selected markets across the globe HTC may have stopped rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update, there's good news for the owners of an unlocked HTC One A9. HTC executive Mo Versi has confirmed that the company has started to roll out the Nougat update on HTC One A9.
Nougat Update On HTC One A9
According to 9To5Google, Google continues the slow pace of Android phones getting updated to the latest version of Android. This time is the turn of the HTC One A9 to get the Android Nougat update. HTC VP of Product Management Mo Versi said in a post on Twitter that starting Monday, Jan. 16, the unlocked version of that phone has started to get Android Nougat via OTA.
According to UberGizmo, one of the benefits of owning an unlocked smartphone is that manufacturers can send the updates for those handsets directly to users when the updates are ready and they don't get held up by mobile carriers. This is exactly what is happening in the case of the HTC One A9 mobile device.
Slow Pace Of Nougat Updates
With the launch of the A9, HTC touted that it was aiming to get updates for the mobile device out within 15 days of Nougat landing on the Nexus phones. However, it seems that Android OEMs encounter difficulties to push out updates in a fast pace. Android 7.0 Nougat has landed on the Nexus phones for the first time on Aug. 22, 2016. Since then, almost 150 days have passed.
What Nougat Features Are Expected?
Since the phone is finally getting the highly-anticipated update today, HTC One A9 owners can't really complain anymore. Android 7.0 Nougat is considered by tech experts to be a pretty substantial update to Google's mobile OS. The latest version of Google's mobile operating system is packing new features like many underlying performance optimizations, a completely redesigned notification interface, multi-window support and more.
Versi did not go into details, but it is expected that all the new Nougat features introduced by Google with this major platform update will be present. It is also expected that some additional tweaks made by HTC to be present within the update.
