iOS 7 Concept Video Shows Off Elegant Widgets, Mission Control And More (Video)

When Apple unveils iOS 7, it is expected to show off major changes to the mobile operating system, which hasn't really seen any major overhauls since its release in 2007. The changes in iOS 7 are expected to be so big that Apple has reportedly pulled developers working on OS X 10.9 to work on iOS 7. A new iOS 7 concept video shows off some very welcome and long overdue features that would certainly make any Apple fanboy happy.

The video was created by Federico Blanco and he has added features like Widgets, lock screen app shortcuts and settings, Mission Control (found on Mac OS X), quick settings, quick message reply and more. The video shows all of the features running on an iPhone and iPad so you can really experience what it would be like if Apple did take some inspiration from this concept video.

In the video the overall look of iOS 7 looks very similar to iOS 6 but the features the designer created need to be seen in order to be appreciated. Two of the biggest standout features are the addition of Widgets and Mission Control. The way Widgets work is different from the typical Android widgets that stay on your home screen and can take up some real estate. When a user taps an app on the home screen, assuming it has widget capabilities, the app opens like iOS folders and presents the user with a widget. For instance, if you tap the Music app you're presented with small pop-up music controls without having to enter the app. The Weather and Calendar apps work the same way, presenting the user with pop-up forecast and calendar entries. Mission Control, which is currently found on Mac OS X, looks great running on an iPad especially. Mission Control kicks app-switching up a notch in this concept video. If you've used Mission Control on OS X, you'll want it in iOS 7. Check out the video below to see some great design ideas that hopefully make their way in some form to iOS 7.
