To all the people that believed Samsung and its Galaxy Note line was already dead, think again. Recent reports have indicated that the company plans to release an all-new Galaxy Note 8 this year. Similar reports have also hinted a mid-August release date.
The Note 7 fiasco
Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 failure will be remembered for a significantly long time. Handsets that were exploding, catching on fire and had to be recalled twice. Right now, the company has already claimed to know the cause and will be reporting their findings sometime this year.
About Galaxy Note 8
More importantly, the Note 7 fiasco won't be stopping them from continuing on with their famous phablet line. While rumors as of late have all been all about the Galaxy S8, the Note 8 is starting to gain some attention too. Here's what to expect about the Galaxy Note 8:
According to Business Korea, a Samsung executive has confirmed the Note lineup will be living on. Its extreme popularity before the Note 7 disaster is part of the decision. Not to mention they essentially created the phablet concept and don't want to abandon it.
Samsung going all-out on VR
The report has also mentioned a new and improved design and a 4K display. This Suggests that Samsung will continue going into the realm of virtual reality. The Galaxy S7 series have had one of the best displays thus far and was released with the Gear VR.
According to reports, a similar option could be arriving in the second half of 2017.
Samsung to develop AI for S8 and Note 8
As 2016 came to a close, Samsung recent move was purchasing Viv Labs, an AI assistant company and was the main creators of Siri. Expectations high towards Samsung integrating their own AI assistant in both the S8 and Galaxy Note 8.
This will then compete directly with Apple's Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa and many others.
