Nintendo Finally Releases Official Statement About 'NES Classic' Stock Shortage

As what we've all known by now, the NES Classic Edition stock has been a problem for Nintendo. The Nintendo NES Classic console immediately went out of stock not just on its first, but as well as its second shipment.

NES Classic continues shortage woes

The second shipment arrived just in time for Christmas and it was highly expected to be able to meet the increasing customer demands at the time. However, even during the Christmas season sale, Nintendo, again, failed to meet the demands for the NES Classic Edition console.

The Scarcity of the NES Classic

If only the NES Classic had been available, a large number of customers would have bought it even for an added price, as it has been one of the hotter Christmas presents during that time. With the scarcity of the product, a lot of online scalpers have taken advantage and have sold the NES Classic Edition for a whopping $200.

Nintendo losing a lot

The shortage of the NES Classic will have a great deal of impact on Nintendo's financials. the company could have achieved higher revenues had they manufactured the consoles in more numbers.

Fils-Aime Explains Shortage problem

Recent reports during the Nintendo Switch console announcement have revealed that Nintendo was very much unaware of the fact that the NES Classic would boast such a high demand. According to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, the high demands for the NES classic edition was an unanticipated scenario, even for Nintendo to expect.

Nintendo didn't see it coming

He further explained that the company was targeting players in the age group of 30 to 40 years who would have definitely played the original NES and are very much familiar with the classic titles incorporated in the NES Classic. This being the assumption, the company was highly expecting that demands for the retro-console will not be as huge as it is now.
