Among the many issues regarding the Nintendo Switch is its initial price at $300. While many fans were hoping for or even expecting that the game console will be at $250 only. But it makes sense that in the current market with the functionality of the Switch, $300 would be a pretty logical price.
The Hidden Costs Of The Nintendo Switch
According to Forbes, the more we learn about the Switch, the more Nintendo is stretching the price of the game console. The initial price of $300 comes with the Nintendo Switch and nothing else, just the game console itself. That is one of the many problems given to some that expected a really great functionality on the Nintendo Switch.
$30 For A Joy-Con Grip
As of now, most have seen the Joy-Cons slide into both the Nintendo Switch screen component. The Joy-Cons are obviously charging when they are plugged into the Switch tablet screen, but not the grip controller that comes along with the system. Rather, you have to buy a separate amount charging the grip for $30 that charges the Joy-Cons. If you will not buy this, you have to plug them into the Switch tablet every time.
$70 For A Pro Controller
The Nintendo Switch's Pro Controller, unlike with past consoles, has been promoted up front being pretty core to the experience. For many games, the Joy-Con grip controller seems like a more traditionally shaped but the Pro Controller is not, it is a preferred alternative for both when playing in tablet mode and at home. Although it is very useful, you have to buy it at a cost of $70, because it is not included in the box when you buy the Nintendo Switch. As you may notice, its cost is $10 more than the DualShock and Xbox controller as well.
$80 For More Joy-Cons
The price of the Pro Controller is only topped by the price of getting an extra Joy-Con, which are valued as $80 per pair, or somehow, $50 individually for left and right versions. Nintendo has always been a stronghold of the local multiplayer game console, but now, playing with more than 2 players is going to be more costly than ever.
Your options are to either buy an extra Pro Controller that costs $70 each or to play using the 4 Joy-Cons, which is cheaper, but still an extra cost of $80 with everyone just using one-half of a Joy-Con set. It is really good to know that Nintendo has moved on from Wiimotes, an advantage of the Wii U was that you could use controllers you already owned.
$90 For Another Switch Dock
This item is considered as a luxury one compared to the other things mentioned above. But for a system where the goal is mobility, transferring from TV to another TV isn’t going to be a cheaper move. That is right, you could move the entire docking system like you would a normal console, but for the ease of just transferring the tablet, the unit will cost you $90 for a new dock.
A report believes that the act of switching from a dock to another has barely any tech in it, given that the core of the Nintendo Switch is running through the handheld tablet. It feels like you are paying $90 for a glorified charger. If this were cheaper, this could be a great family advantage of the console as you could easily move your Switch gadget from room to room.
