A man in Buenos Aires discovered something rather peculiar about the new toy poodles he purchased for $150: they were actually giant ferrets juiced up on steroids.
The ferrets, which were purposely pumped up since birth on steroids and groomed to appear to be fluffy poodles, were purchased by the gullible buyer at La Salada, Argentina's largest bazaar, and reports say they might not be the only ones "accidentally" bought.
The Daily Mail reports that an older man from Catamarca had purchased cheap toy poodles at the bazaar only to later feel buyer's remorse that perhaps dogs at such a low price were too good to be true. Once the man took the "dogs" to a vet for a vaccination, he discovered that his suspicions were right and that the dogs were in fact what the Daily Mail refers to as "giant rodents" (aka "Brazilian rats").
"Previously considered an urban legend of the giant La Salada market, local television news in the capital, Buenos Aires, discovered that the unidentified man was not alone — another woman had been told that she was buying a Chiuhuahua, but ended up with a ferret," The Daily Mail says.
According to numbers by the Daily Mail, a toy poodle can easily run you $1,000 per dog, whereas a ferret would only be $75. Neither the man nor woman who made the purchasing errors has yet filed a complaint.
What would you do if you purchased a ferret instead of a poodle? And are ferrets so bad, anyway? Let us know in the comments below!
