The new Nintendo Switch is almost upon all of us and it is looking like a nice change of pace from the long-suffering Wii U. But still, it is not perfect. There are problems you might encounter along your way while using the Nintendo Switch.
The 5 Biggest Problems With The Nintendo Switch
According to The Verge, Nintendo was once peerless in the portable market, but now, the tech world is crowded with smartphones and a relentless flood of low-priced distractions. For many years, Nintendo bemoaned the devaluing of mobile games, even if there is a constant push from investors.
The new Nintendo Switch is a game console that has a portable hybrid design as its selling point, but it’s also a declaration of Nintendo’s place in the world. Here are the 5 biggest problems with the Nintendo Switch as reported by Forbes.
1. It’s pricey, especially when you take accessories into account.
The Nintendo Switch is not the most expensive game console on the market today and at the price of $299, it’s not a bad deal. But once you started to tack on its accessories, the console becomes quite a lot pricier that you expected. If you want to add a charging Joy-Con Grip, you have to buy it at $30. While a Pro Controller that is for gaming on the TV will cost you $70. That is more than a standard gamepad for either the Xbox One or the PS4. Simply buying the Nintendo Switch system, one game, and a Pro Controller will set you back $460 plus tax in total.
2. Not enough games at launch, and nothing packed in.
Nintendo Switch is a really great game console. But many critics are saying that its launch was a bit sad because of the given few games. But as reported by Express, Nintendo Switch games list has just expanded, as a new launch title has been announced by the company itself. The previously statement is without a release date, but now it is confirmed that NBA 2K18 will be with Nintendo Switch on March 3 launch.
"NBA 2K18 - Nintendo Switch lands in the UK on March 3rd! We're excited to be bringing NBA 2K18 to Nintendo's latest console this September!" reads a 2K tweet. The Nintendo Switch launch games lineup in full:
- 1-2-Switch
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Skylanders Imaginators
- Just Dance 2017
- Super Bomberman R
- NBA 2K18
3. Shoddy third-party support in 2017.
It may be impossible for Nintendo to rekindle a strong third-party support for any of its systems at this point in time. Nintendo company’s consoles rely heavily on Nintendo’s own IPs. As mentioned by Forbes, there are a few other ports of older games, but very few new third-party games or third-party exclusives coming to the Switch.
4. Paid online service is a bad idea for Nintendo.
At first, Microsoft is the only one in-charged for playing games online. With its very own PS4′s launch, Sony jumped on the bandwagon, though the company had offered an optional for the PS Plus service prior to this. Now, Nintendo is joining the fray with a paid online service launching later this year.
5. Storage is really limited.
Just like the Deluxe model of the Wii U, the Nintendo Switch contains 32 GB of internal storage, as reported by Polygon. It is possible to expand its storage using the microSDHC and microSDXC since there’s a slot behind the kickstand on the back of the Switch unit.
