It only took a couple of days, Nintendo Switch is already sold out on Amazon, GameStop, Walmart and Best Buy.
The Nintendo Switch Stock: Sold-Out At Amazon, GameStop, Walmart And Best Buy
The new Nintendo Switch will be released on March 3 for £279.99 in the UK, but Amazon has already stopped taking new pre-orders. According to the statement released by the online store, they’ve already sold through their entire allocation, with a statement saying that the orders "will be fulfilled in the order they are placed as soon as we receive further stock."
As of now, there's no indication of how many Nintendo Switch units Amazon actually had, but the US giant GameStop was allocated half a million. And they've all gone too. Not only that but GameStop has recorded an impressive a total of 1.2 million pre-orders just for the Nintendo Switch games.
“The fact that this initial allotment has been completely reserved in a matter of a few days demonstrates gamers desire for this fun and revolutionary gaming system,” stated senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop Bob Puzon. “We’re working closely with Nintendo to get additional Nintendo Switch units, and will let our customers know when they become available.”
According to Metro, as of now, GameStop has a total of a quarter of a million people on a waiting list, queuing for the very rare opportunity to pre-order the Nintendo Switch game console when the second wave of stock comes in.
Meanwhile, other US retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart have also run out of stock of the Nintendo Switch. And like Amazon, there is no indication of when BestBuy could get more in for more stocks. While Walmart has contacted Metro and said that they are still entertaining pre-orders in-store, but just not online.
Nintendo Switch Stock: No Place To Buy
Nintendo has promised to released 2 million of Switch game consoles. The company also said that the units will be available worldwide in its first month, which is a lot for a non-Christmas launch, and that more will be available soon after that first group.
With this, it is safe for us to claim that there will be more Nintendo Switch coming. But in terms of its success, it is note yet certain to say that it will be a blast since even the Wii U was sold out at launch; although not at this early stage.
