ASUS MeMo Pad Hits U.S. Shelves

When ASUS announced the MeMo Pad at Mobile World Congress in February it shocked the show by offering one of the lowest-priced tablets on the market. The 16GB MeMo Pad is now available for purchase in the U.S. for $150.

ASUS's MeMo Pad looks very similar to the Nexus 7, and it should. ASUS designed the Nexus 7 for Google, so it makes sense that it would use a current and similar design to keep costs of the tablet down.

The MeMo Pad features a 7-inch 1024x600 resolution screen, is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 1 GHz single core processor, available in two models with 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, 5GB Asus WebStorage, 1GB of RAM, and includes a microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB microSD cards. Asus is offering this low-cost tablet in three-color choices: dark grey, white and pink.

While this tablet looks very similar to the ASUS-made Nexus 7, its specs clearly show why ASUS is able to offer the MeMo Pad for that $150 price point.

The MeMo Pad is currently available in the U.S. for purchase through Amazon and GameStop for $150 and both currently have the tablet in stock and ready to ship. If you've been looking for a spare tablet for you or someone in your life who doesn't need all the bells and whistles of more expensive 7-inch tablets, the MeMo Pad might be worth taking a look.
