New Study Proves The Universe Currently Consists Of Two Trillion Galaxies; More Than Originally Anticipated

The universe has been one of the many sciences that no matter how much about it you discover, there will always be something new to it. Thus recent ly, it has been studied that the universe actually has two trillion galaxies, as opposed to the hundredsof billions that the scientists originally thought of.

Team Of Researchers Discover That Equipment Only Captures 10 Percent Of The Actual Universe

It has been confirmed that scientists have been using the Hubble Space Telescope in capturing images of the universe. Based on its results, it has initially been declared that there around 200 billion galaxies. However, since the universe is too big enough to capture yet with today's technology, the equipment only gets to take images of ten percent of the actual universe. Meaning, there is still a big 90 percent about the universe that is yet to be discovered once bigger and more advanced telescopes are going to be developed with the fast pace of a progressing technology, as confirmed by the lead of the researchers on the study, Christopher Conselice from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.

The team of researchers needed to establish the feasibility of the study showing that there is a much larger scale to the universe. This was done by Aaron Wilkinson, a PhD student from the earlier said university, by performing the initial galaxy-counting analysis. The team converted the images of the deep space taken from the Hubble Space Telescope into 3D maps by using all the images that were taken all over the world. Thus, pretty much an archaeologist digging up the ground, they had it done the same way by putting the pieces of the puzzle together only in the intergalactic aspect.

There Were Ten Times As Much Galaxies Before; Over A Billion Years Ago

Upon discovery, this has made the team realized how much of the universe they have missed and are yet to still discover. The results of the said study have been based on the measurements of the number of the only galaxies that were observed, in different instances in time. It has also been revealed that the universe previously had ten times as much as galaxies as it has now, but have merged or died down over time. So despite having discovered that there are currently around two trillion galaxies to date, they were ten times in number more a billion years ago.
