Affordable Care Act Makes Cancer Screening More Accessible

The importance of screening for cancer has always been seen as crucial for early detection. Making it more affordable could help in saving lives. Cancer screening is now more accessible for many people.

Cancer screening has become more affordable for many Americans. This has been made possible by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The researchers have found that with ACA diagnosis of the early stages of colorectal cancer among men from ages 65 and older has increased. The increase has been as much as eight percent.

The study has been conducted by Nengliang "Aaron" Yao, Ph. D. from the University of Virginia's School of Medicine. Joining him in the research is Brett Lissenden, graduate student under the University of Virginia's Economics Ph.D. program. The study has looked on the health care reform commonly known as Obamacare to see how it has affected the early diagnosis of cancer.

ACA has been found to have no noticeable effect on the diagnosis of the early stages of breast cancer, although it has shown to have appreciable effect on colorectal cancer diagnosis. The study has focused on the period from 2011 to 2013. The researchers speculate that there has been more effect on colorectal diagnosis because spending for it has been much larger, according to UVA Today.

While the study is on Obamacare, Yao has said that there has been no political motivation behind the study. He has said that preventable care is important, which is the main focus of the study. Data for the study has been taken from Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program, as Science Daily reports.

For millions of Americans, the ACA has been important since it has made cancer detection more affordable than ever. In cancer treatment, early detection is crucial for a successful treatment. Treatment in the later stages of cancer can be difficult, and successful treatment more unlikely.

Cancer treatment could now be much easier. Cancer screening is now more accessible for many people. A study has also shown that a fixed-dosed therapy for hypertensive patients is more preferable.
