Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs, Rumors: It'll Beat Galaxy S4 With New Feature

Before Samsung held its big Galaxy S4 unveiling, rumors suggested that the smartphone would be getting the much-hyped S Orb feature. Interestingly, it looks like the Galaxy Note 3 will get it first.

The Galaxy S4 event came and went without Samsung even mentioning the S Orb, which is what the company is calling its equivalent to Google's panoramic Android Photo Sphere feature. According to a new rumor published today, the Galaxy Note 3 will get it first, while the rest of Samsung's devices wait for the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie update to receive it.

The rumor comes courtesy of Android Geeks, who cite a Samsung software engineer as the source. The Galaxy Note 3 S Orb feature will work much like Photo Sphere in that it will let users put together panoramic pictures by taking pictures in multiple directions and threading them together into one picture. Unlike Photo Sphere, which only lets you share pics to Google+, S Orb will allow reportedly allow Galaxy Note 3 users to share theirs on Facebook. That could be a big deal for the Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung, whose apps are often declared inferior to Android's.

Galaxy S4 users won't have to wait too long to get the feature, though. Once the Galaxy S4 is out, Samsung intends to use the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie roll-out to outfit the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 with whatever Note 3-specific ideas it comes up with.

The question that remains, then, is when will the Galaxy Note 3 actually be released? Samsung, of course, won't say a thing, but if the past is any indication, then we might see the Korean company reveal the Note 3 at the IFA trade show in Berlin this September.
