Marc Webb, director of the forthcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has released a new photo from the film that shows just what happens when super-villain "Electro" gets upset.
In the photo released by Webb — who also directed the first The Amazing Spider-Man film (not to be confused with the recently released Spider-Man franchise helmed by Sam Raimi) — we see a police officer and his car immolated by Electro's lightning bolts.
"Day 45. This is what happens when you try to give Electro a ticket," Webb tweeted on Tuesday, April 9 along with the photo.
Electro is played by Jamie Foxx in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the character's power comes from his ability to fling lightning bolts at will, after having been (what else?) struck by lightning.
"While the pic doesn't add much to our knowledge of what's going to happen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it does confirm that Electro is going to be on hand and using his powers to make life miserable for others, just as we all hoped," Movie Talk says. "And the tone of Webb's tweet suggests the mood on the set is positive; given the disappointing reception that greeted the first movie, this is good news and infers Webb still has his head in the game."
There isn't much more information available yet about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, aside from the fact that another super-villain — Russian mobster the Rhino — will be played by Paul Giamatti (American Splendor, Sideways) and that the film is likely to come out May 2014.
Other cast members include Andrew Garfield (who will be returning to play Spidey), Emma Stone (as Gwen Stacy), Chris Cooper (as Norman Osborn), Shaiene Woodley (as Mary Jane Watson), Martin Sheen (as Uncle Ben) and Sally Field (as Aunt May).
