The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has officially rated the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX. This could have an effect on the KH HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue which was released just recently. With the ESRB coming out with this official rating, both titles will effectively have the same rating.
What Does An E10+ Rating Mean?
The KH HD 2.8 will have the same ESRB rating as the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX since it is only a remastered version. This will be their standalone release ratings on PS3. The ESRB has given the ReMIX version an E10+ rating. What does this rating mean?
The E10+ rating given by the ESRB to Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX mean that the content of the video game is generally suitable for those who are 10 years old and above. This rating is given by the ESRB for video games that contain more cartoon, fantasy, minimal suggestive themes, mild language and mild violence.
ESRB Is An Authorized Body
The ESRB is an authorized organization that determines the appropriateness of a video game to certain age levels. They serve an important function and so far they have done their job well. But the real responsibility of determining if a game such as Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX is appropriate or not for certain age levels rests on the shoulders of the concerned individual.
In the case of minors, it is their parents who are directly responsible. The ESRB has also revealed why it has granted Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX an E10+ rating. This body said that the compilation of video games is based on the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Players take on the characters of young warriors fighting a destructive power.
It went on to say that the battles in Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX are accompanied by cries of pain. There are sequences that allow players to shoot projectiles. Some of the cutscenes feature some characters disappearing like mists when they are hit by magical swords. There is also a scene showing some bloodstains on coins.
With these ESRB descriptions, parents will have a sort of measuring tool to gauge whether Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX can be played by their kids aged 10 and above. The collection will launch on PS 4 on March 28, 2017. If they determine that it is alright for their children, they could also choose to get the KH HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue since it has the same ESRB rating.
