A List Of Old NES Cheat Codes That Still Work With The Mini NES Classic

For the lucky few who already have a NES Classic Edition, playing with the 30 retro games is quite the experience. Make it even better by playing them like many of the kids of the late 80s and early 90s did - with cheat codes.

Tom's Guide and Business Insider have compiled some of the popular cheat codes from before that still work on the new NES Classic console.

Castelvania II Simon's Quest

"MLIT WVCW T3KU SFZC" will give the player the ability to use all weapons and items in the game.

Final Fantasy

Pressing the A and B buttons simultaneously for 55 times will access a puzzle mini-game.

Gradius

The iconic "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start" will give the player 30 more lives. Go to the title screen before pressing the buttons.

Kid Icarus

Input "PAKING PAKING PAKING PAKING" to gain access to every item in the game.

Legend of Zelda

Input "ZELDA" and the player will bypass the first quest and have access to the second one.

Mega Man 2

Want access to every possible weapon in Mega Man's arsenal? How about four energy tanks? Type in "A5, B2, B4, C1, C3, C5, D4, D5, E1". You're welcome.

Metroid

The password "NARPAS SWORD0 000000 000000" will give Samus infinite energy, missiles, an ice beam, and most of the power-ups in the game.

"JUSTIN BAILEY ------ ------" will take Samus' armor off and give her 225 missiles.

Punch-Out

Players can press SELECT every time he or she needs a health boost. Tap on the button continuously after around to re-energize Little Mac. When the opponent is outmatched, tap on the SELECT button while the other boxer is on screen. This will reduce Little Mac's health to keep the fight interesting.

Super Mario Bros.

At the end of Stage 3-1, jump on the second of two turtles that are coming down the stairs to keep it from moving. Mario should then jump on the shell to let it bounce against the wall/step back to Mario repeatedly. This will give Mario infinite lives. See how it's done here.

Super Mario Bros. 2

Climb the ladder at the start of Level 5-3 then jump onto the ledge just above it. Once some grass appears on screen, go to the first blade to reveal a portion which will then reveal a door. Enter the door and go into the jar. This will take the player to the seventh world.
