Google, as a whole, might have been keeping its own mouth shut about it, but employees have left breadcrumbs for Internet detectives to follow. The scavenger hunt ultimately led to the revelation of the Google I/O location and date.
The Google I/O event is a conference aimed in teaching Google developers how to best use their products. It also provides the tech savvy with a glimpse at new Google products and software.
A post on the Google Developers G+ page brought in the very first clue which revealed a hidden site. On January 24, the Firebase and Google Developers' also posted the link on their Twitter account. It says: "Around the world, from here to there, to the most clever minds, the secret will share" with the Twitter hashtags "#googledevs" "#savethedate".
The site will then bring in 6 minimalist boxes. Hovering the last three boxes will unveil the words, "Ready" and "Set" then finally, "Go". When you click "Go", you then be sent to a GitHub repository, complete with a set of coordinates to a remote Brazilian jungle.
The next clue will lead you to a Google Developers YouTube video named "See What Cannot Be Heard" which is tagged as unlisted. The video's captions will reveal another set of coordinates to Warsaw in Poland. The fourth clue will have a hidden riddle in a corrupted image that leads to Thailand.
The sleuths then assigned the name of the countries to positions on a chess board, while adding and subtracting from the letter values which produced "L IN E THEATRE SHO RE AM P H I." When you arrange the jumbled letters, you get the Shoreline Amphitheater which is in Mountain View, California.
Google I/O event for 2017 is set to happen at Shoreline Amphitheater. The three-day event will be on May 17-19, 2017.
