It doesn't really need to be said, but Google's Android operating system is popular. It's gained so much momentum that it's by far the most popular OS in the world, outstripping Apple's iOS with ease.
Sure, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Amazon's Kindle Fire are part of the reason why, but there are a plethora of Android options out there for virtually every buyer.
In case you were wondering which Android devices are most popular, though, we finally have the answer. The research firm Handset Detection was able to track more than 35 million Android devices up until February 2013. Here's what they found people using the most in the United States:
At the top of the list was the Samsung Galaxy S3. This isn't much of a surprise, considering the breakthrough success of the phone around the world, but the S3 takes about 14 percent of the entire U.S. Android market.
Second on the list was the Motorola XT912, or the Droid Razr. Motorola may not be "wowing" Google with its line-up of phones just yet, but the company still did well enough to create a solid, popular Android set.
It might be a little surprising to see a tablet so high up on the list, but the Kindle Fire clocks in at number three with just over 3 percent. The tablet isn't as popular as the iPad, but it's got enough reading, viewing and listening options (not to mention all at the right price) to make it the most-purchased Android tablet yet.
At number six we see Android Generic, which means the U.S. is home to a lot of users whose phones don't actually register as a specific device (perhaps due to modding and whatnot, which is very big in the Android community). And at number 10 is the Google Nexus 7 tablet. For the full list, just look below.
