Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 ZCEMC2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Root Available

A root method has become available for the Galaxy S3 I9300 running ZCEMC2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

In order to root your Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300, you will need to flash a rooting kernel to the device, which will be done using ODIN. This will root your device but during the process you may lose personal settings and data. If you choose to root your device then you will void your warranty. However, the warranty can be reinstated if you re-apply the official firmware update.

Before rooting, remember to BACK UP YOUR DEVICE.

Preparation

1. Download CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip to root I9300ZCEMC2 firmware [File: CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip].

2. Download Odin 3.07.

Directions

1. Download and extract CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip. You will obtain a CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar.md5 file in the unzipped folder.

2. Extract the Odin zip file to get Odin3 v3.07.exe.

3. Turn off the device. Wait five to six seconds to make sure the power is completely shut off.

4. Put the Galaxy S3 I9300 in Download Mode. You can do this by pressing and holding the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons. A screen will appear with a warning about entering into Download Mode. Continue entering Download Mode by pressing the Volume Down key.

5. Run Odin3 v3.07.exe with Administrator rights.

6. Connect the Galaxy S3 I9300 to your computer. A notification will pop up in Odin in the bottom left saying "Added!!" If you don't see the notification for some reason, try another USB port. If you still don't see it, reinstall the USB driver. Once you see the notification, you're all set. To make sure you have successfully added the device, check for the COM port being depicted by a number in yellow.

7. Select the following files in Odin at their respective buttons:

a. Click the PDA Button, then select the CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar.md5 file.

b. In the Odin window, verify that the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected.

c. Do a double check on everything. Select the START button to start the flashing process.

d. Once flashing is completed, the device will reboot automatically and a green PASS notification will appear in the top-left-most box. At this point you can unplug the device from the computer.

Your Galaxy S3 I9300 running on ZCEMC2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is now rooted.
