Recently, Nokia started rolling out the 1308 firmware update to Lumia 920 smartphones in many markets and now the software release is also reaching Canada.
Nokia Lumia 920 owners on Canadian carrier Rogers are now getting the 1308 firmware update on their phones. The update is expected to fix bugs and bring enhancements to the smartphone.
Recently, U.S. carrier AT&T also started receiving the 1308 software update, but apparently the carrier had to halt the software release after Lumia 920 started complaining that the update brings connectivity issues instead. Nokia also confirmed that the 1308 for AT&T Lumia 920 devices was causing issues and since then released a 1314 firmware update to fix the problem.
The update is meant to fix bugs and brings several enhancements and tweaks to the Lumia 920. The software update is supposed to bring a storage fix option: the ability to change the color intensity of the display, performance and stability improvements, especially to the 8.7-megapixel camera which carries Carl Zeiss optics. Nokia pushed out this firmware update after receiving feedback from field testing.
Even though AT&T Lumia 920 customers have faced connectivity issues, there have been no complaints after Nokia released the software in European countries.
The Lumia 920 sports impressive top-end features and the device is one of the most popular Windows Phone 8 (WP8)-powered smartphones available on the market. Rumors also suggest that the successor of Lumia 920, the Lumia 928, is on its way and may reach the shelves sooner than expected. However, Nokia remains mum on the release of Lumia 928.
It will be interesting to see if Rogers Nokia Lumia 920 brings the promised improvements or if it brings issues. Have you received the 1308 firmware update on your Nokia Lumia 920?
