Naughty Dog has yet to share the finer details of the upcoming The Last of Us 2 yet fans continue to speculate with the little information they know. In line with this, a new rumor from Ellie's song not only hints some possible plot details but also the release date.
Many followers from the fanbase have crafted their own theories and shared them on social media. Some speculations are a bit shaky like Joel's death which was debunked, as per International Business Times AU. On the other hand, a few different ideas were actually sound and concrete as they provided more plausible explanations.
The Last of Us 2 Plot Details Revealed?
Similarly, The Wolf Hall reports that Ellie's song from the trailer could have a much deeper meaning to it. Firstly, the lyrics itself speak about 'hate' which will be a major theme in the sequel. It actually shares a strong similarity to the bible, notably in Psalm 23:4-6 King James Version. The message found in both the song and the bible might hint that Joel disapproves of Ellie's plans.
He might believe that she is putting herself in danger or just might not like what Ellie is trying to do in general. This coincides with the possibility that Ellie already discovered that she is the 'cure' and did not agree with Joel's actions in the conclusion of the game. To back this up, her tattoo is a fern plant which can be used for medicinal purposes. Ellie might have decided to get this symbol imprinted on her arm as a possible reminder to herself that she holds the power to 'save' mankind.
Possible Release Date?
That aside, the bible verse might be alluding to the possible release date. Since the passage is from 23 and the verse starts at 4, this could mean that the game will see the release on April 23. The year is still unknown and is also highly debated by fans, although most believe that it will release come 2019.
Take note that Naughty Dog has yet to confirm these theories so everything is still up in the air. As with other speculations, fans should take this with a grain of salt as things are most likely subject to change.
