Both Samsung and Apple are expected to go big this 2017. Samsung is anticipated to make up for the miserable Note 7 release last year and Apple is expected to release an "anniversary iPhone" to celebrate iPhone's tenth year as a brand. With that said, here's a quick comparison between Samsung's first 2017 flagship which is the Galaxy S8, and Apple's new iPhones that consist of the iPhone 8, the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus.
What's Expected: Galaxy S8, iPhone 8, iPhone 7S Series
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is anticipated to arrive in two variants. However, unlike the previous Galaxy S smartphones that came in flat and curved models, the S8 will come in two curved variants. The only difference the two S8 models will have between each other is the size. The regular Galaxy S8 is expected to have a 5.8-inch screen while the supposed Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to come with a 6.2-inch display.
The 2017 iPhones, on the other hand, are expected to come in three models. There will be one premium anniversary iPhone currently dubbed by tech bloggers as the iPhone 8, and there could also be an iPhone 7S and an iPhone 7S Plus that will succeed the iPhone 7 series. According to reports, the iPhone 8 will be more premium than the iPhone 7S series.
Features: Galaxy S8, iPhone 8, iPhone 7S Series
According to reports from different sources, the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus will still be waterproof. As per GSM Arena, the devices will also be equipped with an iris scanner and a super-fast Snapdragon 835 processor. On top of that, the new Galaxy S8 phones could have slimmer bezels allowing for an 84 percent screen-to-body ratio for the S8 and an 89 percent screen-to-body ratio for the S8 Plus. Additionally, a dual 12 MP rear camera is also expected for both Galaxy S8 smartphones.
The iPhone 8 on the other hand, is rumored to come with an all-glass body, an A11 chipset, and a curved display. As per Mac Rumors, the iPhone's home button will be gone and the phone could be wireless charging enabled. The iPhone 7S and 7S Plus, however, may not come with the extra perks such as the curved display and the all-glass body, but they may actually come with wireless charging capacity. Nevertheless, rumor has it that the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus won't come with a free wireless charging kit. These two phones, however, may get a new red color variant and all three phones could still be waterproof like the iPhones from last year.
