New Pokemon GO Patch Hints Possible Features For Future Gen 2 Updates

A new feature in Pokemon GO finally lets Android players listen to their own music while hunting for monsters in the field. On the other hand, Niantic has launched two new updates that might hint at some new Gen 2 secrets.

Unity Fixes Bug for Android Players

While the mobile Pokemon game has skyrocketed to fame, many players soon found the background music to be somewhat repetitive and even annoying. Moreover, the system would also block out other music from the phone as soon as players activate the app. However, this no longer seems to be a lingering issue.

According to Wccftech, the company has finally allowed users to play their own tracks while in-game. While Niantic has failed to mention this in the recent changelog, the fanbase quickly discovered this and posted the information on social media. Although, it is worth noting that this feature has been available for iOS users since the 1.23.x update.

On a similar note, Niantic never imposed the said music restrictions in the past. Rather, it was actually a bug in the Unity 3D game engine as it assumed that players would rather listen to the in-game music. Ultimately, Unity decided to fix the bug to allow more freedom for the players.

However, Android players should still be careful as the game automatically lowers the external music. Upon exiting and re-activating the app, the music then blasts at extremely high volume. Niantic nor Unity has yet to confirm if this is a gaming effect or another bug.

New Pokemon Go Patch Contains Possible New Features

That aside, Mic reports that the game has just received its two respective patches: 0.55.0 and 1.25.0. These patches improve game performance, fixes the accessory issue for Android devices and adds support for the Apply Watch. Despite the seemingly minor changes, data miners have already discovered a few details that might link to Gen 2.

In line with this, the co-founder of The Silph Road, Dronpes, discovered some sort of reference to something called the 'critical catch.' There might also be a new item, the 'candy reward,' which might hint to bonus candy drop rates. These future features might work their way into future Pokemon GO Gen 2 updates.
