Facebook´s New Feature Wants You To Be Friends With Strangers

One of the greatest things about Facebook is the way in which this social media network usually rolls out new options to catch up with new contacts. This serves as the cornerstone that framed the first years of this platform, which eventually became the most important in the world because of its massive benefits. However, now Facebook is testing a new feature that will encourage you to be with people that you actually don´t know at all, which seems quite creepy.

Facebook´s New Feature Won´t Be Comfortable For Privacy Advocates

The feature will be called "Discover People" and it invites the user to introduce himself by updating some sections of the profile, including featured photos and even the bio. Beneath this, there´s a list of upcoming events that Facebook considers might be interesting for the users. On this part, if the user taps any of the entries, a list will be showed with the profile of strangers, which the user can actually swipe through one-by-one and add without any kind of problem.

Below the Discover People´s events section, there are other sections filled with profiles of many people from other events the user had attended, or even people who live near or work at the same place. Naturally, this is something that privacy advocates will totally hate, considering that providing the profile to unknown contacts is not exactly a great measure to make the user feel safe and protected.

There´s A Possible Benefit About This New Feature

Nevertheless, some analysts suggest that the silver lining of this new feature is that it would be quite beneficial for business networking and dating purposes, given the fact that its structure allows someone to simply find your profile then tap to message you. In any case, this controversial Facebook´s feature is rolling out to users of iOS and Android smartphones but hasn't reached the 100 percent of the users base at this time.
