Owners of the Motorola Droid Razr M are not yet getting the Android Jelly Bean upgrade they long hoped for, but they are receiving a software update that promises a number of improvements to the device.
The upgrade, which was released on Tuesday April 16, is titled 98.15.66.XT907.Verizon.en.US. The update is available over-the-air (OTA). Accordingly, users can check for the update manually in Settings or wait for a notification that the update is ready for download. Users may have to wait a couple of weeks before the update arrives.
The upgrade for the Droid Razr M features a number of benefits and weighs in at 80 MB. Aside from bug fixes, updates include stronger Wi-Fi, enhanced Mobile Device Management support and media sync with Back Up Assistant Plus. Voice volume at set level will also be improved, along with video streaming pixilation and Visual Voicemail connectivity.
The Droid Razr M's camera will also be improved, with notifications, low-light enhancements and touch-to-focus.
Verizon has not given any indication of when the Droid Razr M will get an Android Jelly Bean update users are hoping for, so it looks like users are stuck with Android Ice Cream Sandwich for awhile. Any software update, however, is a welcome development, especially given that the Droid Razr M has not been updated in a few months. We'll keep our eyes peeled for a Jelly Bean update for the device.
More information on the update for the Droid Razr M can be found on the Verizon support page.
