Fans worldwide are still trying to figure out where The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fits on the franchise's timeline. However, new information hints where the game possibly fits into the series' overarching plot.
Exact Place in the Timeline?
The series is known for its extensive in-game history with its various installments interlinking through gameplay hints and plot points. According to WWG, the upcoming Zelda game contains one of the most controversial storylines as fans continue to debate where it sits on the entire chronology. Fittingly enough, the pieces of the timeline's puzzle seem to finally come together after Nintendo trickled more information about the installment.
In light of the new tidbits surrounding the supporting cast, the game actually includes bird-like creatures called the Rito' Furthermore, the latest installment also brings back the leafy creatures, Koroks. With this in mind, it is worth noting that only one game in the entire franchise shares the same type of beings: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
The main timeline itself is pretty straightforward until The Ocarina of Time wherein the series splits into three branches. The specific branch where an adult Link manages to defeat Ganon leads to the more cheery Wind Waker installment. Because of this, the latest title in the series seems to take place after the said game.

The Game Awards 2016 trailer features someone riding alongside a cute canine. Nintendo has yet to share any further details about the mutt but the fanbase wants to know more.
Moreover, it did not take long for followers to share their thoughts about the animal on social media. Dogs in gaming have become somewhat of a trend as various other titles like Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4 and Far Cry Primal all included a canine companion. Fans will have to wait for more information regarding this pooch's potential role or gameplay in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
