Leonardo DiCaprio will play the lead role and produce an edition of Stephan Talty's book "The Black Hand" for Paramount Pictures adaptation.
The movie follows the story of Joe Petrosino - called by the name "Italian Sherlock Holmes" - an NYPD police officer who goes after the callous gang in the early 1900s. The thugs migrated from Italy to America and kidnapped people to extort and blackmail for money from their families. They were reviled by law-abiding Italian families who were terrified but still helped Petrosino behind the scenes.
