If you've looked for an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak for your iPhone 5 lately, you may have stumbled on a certain outfit called Jailbreakhome.com. In big letters at the top of their home page, you'll see the words Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 with a telltale asterisk preceding it. Scroll down a bit and you'll see that the asterisk stands for the following: iOS 6.1.3 Jailbreak is only available for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4G).
If you've been following iPhone jailbreak news, this should be a dead giveaway that Jailbreakhome.com isn't offering anything that you couldn't get two weeks ago from the evasi0n or RedSn0w teams. So what differentiates Jailbreakhome.com? It's simple really: they charge $9.99 for the same jailbreak you can get ABSOLUTELY free elsewhere.
It gets more bizarre, though. Jailbreakhome.com even admits that jailbreaking an iPhone is free. They explain the "need" for their "service" with the following disclaimer:
Downloading Cydia and Jailbreaking your device is made possible by a team of hackers that actually offer their jailbreaking softwares for free, and there are many tutorials online on how to jailbreak and download cydia.
But to jailbreak iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch you must find the right jailbreak software for your specific device, because each jailbreak software is developed only for specific models, iOS, and, baseband versions. Using the wrong jailbreak software or instructions may damage & brick your device.
Also every time you update your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to a new version of iOS you will lose your jailbreak software and Cydia will be removed. So you will have to look again for the right jailbreak software version & re-jailbreak it again.
Essentially, Jailbreakhome.com is saying you should pay them $9.99 because you're an idiot and can't figure out on your own which jailbreak tool to use. The truth is, most iPhone jailbreak utilities are extremely user friendly and countless forums exist online where you can find tech support far better than anything you could pay money for.
In short, avoid Jailbreakhome.com like the plague. For the most part, everything you'll ever need to jailbreak an iPhone can be found either on the official evasi0n team website, or at Redmond Pie.
