How ‘Madden NFL’ Video Game Predicted The Winner Of Super Bowl NFL LI

Super Bowl LI is over and the final result is 34 - 28 in favor of the Patriots. Who would have thought that the Madden NFL video game will correctly predict the outcome of the Super Bowl LI? Early in the game, the Falcons were leading the Patriots 26-0. But the Patriots and Tom Brady persisted and won the game, just like what the video game has predicted.

EA Sports Simulated The Super Bowl NFL LI Before Sunday Night's Game

Earlier, Electronic Art Sports has simulated the game between the Patriots and the Falcon with the Madden NFL video game. Their simulation suggested that the Patriots will trail in the earlier period but will be able to come back and eventually prevail over the Falcons. The simulation predicted that the Patriots will win 27-24. It's really difficult to foresee the actual figures but at least they are right with respect to the winner.

This Video Game Is Not Just For Entertainment

Since 2004, EA Sports have been using their video game to predict the results of the Super Bowl. At times, they are wrong; but sometimes they are right. This year, the Madden NFL video game did it right. But how can an NFL video game simulator do it correctly? The simulator showcases an interesting aspect of video games.

These types of simulators are not just for entertainment where you can play it with your friends for sheer enjoyment. But, these are actually precise recreations of what you see in real-life professional football. These simulators can even perform better without the intervention of gamers.

This Is How Madden NFL Video Game Did It

So, how did this Madden NFL video game get it right? Josh Rabenovets said it is pretty straightforward. He is Electronic Art's senior brand director in charge of Madden. The latest version, Madden NFL 17 is playable in Xbox One. What EA Sports usually do is to run one football game, and then they will record the results and track all types of statistics.

EA will then publish the results of the Madden NFL video game simulation online together with the footage of the in-game events. Rabenovets explained that they really don't do much to the video game simulation. They just show it like it is, he added. In this way they were able to keep the whole thing simple.

The Video Game Can Run Even Without A Player's Input

It appears from what Rabenovets revealed that the Madden NFL video game simulation can run even without human intervention. In fact, he seems to say that it is better that way. The video game simulator has demonstrated an exacting and very realistic simulation of space and bodies. It is designed to operate without human supervision.

You can just let the football game be played by allowing the AI to make all the decisions for all the players involved. There is no need to enter any input that you want. The Madden NFL video game simulation can be left on its own and it will produce results. This time, it predicted the results correctly.

The Batting Average Of This Video Game Is Impressive

There were times in the past that it predicted wrong results as well. However, out of 13 Super Bowl games of the past, the Madden NFL video game simulation correctly predicted the results of nine of those games. That's pretty impressive and a testimony to how effective its AI is. That is why, as Ravenovets explained, the NFL treats them as a 33rd NFL franchise. They get all the pertinent data of the NFL that allows them to give predictions that can be relied upon.
