The Nokia P1 and OnePlus 5 are both flagship smartphones that are highly anticipated by tech fans. The Nokia P1 is rumored to be a massive phone that will prove that the Finnish company still have its tech prowess, while the OnePlus 5 is a smartphone that is dubbed as an "iPhone 7 killer."
Launch Date And Price
The OnePlus 5 is reported to be launched this April, while its retail price is expected to be around $400-500. As for the Nokia P1, reports suggest that it will likely be unveiled at the 2017 Mobile World Congress. But for the release date, there is no specific date for it yet. There will be two prices: $800 for the 128 GB variant and $950 for the other model.
Design
The OnePlus 5 is rumored to possibly feature a curved screen. On the other hand, the Nokia P1 will have an IP57 rating, a Type-C USB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Its casing color designs will come in silver, black and rose gold.
Display
The OnePlus 5 is reported to have a QHD 5.5-inch AMOLED display. For the Nokia P1, it will either have a full-HD or QHD 5.3-inch display that will be protected with a Gorilla Glass 5.
Platform
The OnePlus 5 with be sporting Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. In regards as to what OS will the OnePlus 5 will be running, there is no information yet, but I'm gonna bet my money that it will definitely be running on Android Nougat, simply because the OnePlus 3T itself does have an Android Nougat update. No reason for OnePlus to backpedal to Android Marshmallow.
As for the Nokia P1, it will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat and will also be sporting a Snapdragon 835 chip. Aside from that, there is no other information.
Internal Memory
The OnePlus 5 has varying reports regarding its internal memory storage, some sources claim that it will be 256 GB, while some say it is 126 GB. About its RAM capacity, it is said to be 4 GB of RAM. However, some rumors suggest that it could be 8 GB.
The Nokia P1 with have 6 GB of RAM. Regarding its internal memory storages, one will have 128 GB, while the other will have 256 GB.
Camera
The OnePlus 5 was previously reported to feature a 23 MP rear camera and a 8 MP front camera. Now, recent reports claim that it will be 22 MP partnered with a 8 MP sensor.
The Nokia P1 on the other hand, only has information for its rear camera available right now. The phone itself will have a 22.6 MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss lens.
Battery
The OnePlus 5 is said to house a 4,000 mAh battery and will have a "dash charge" feature. For the Nokia P1, it will be powered by a 3,500 mAh battery and will have a quick charging feature.
The Verdict
Calling the OnePlus 5 as the "iPhone 7 killer" is an understatement. I think it should be rather called as the "killer for all flagship smartphones" simply because of the specs that this amazing smartphone is carrying and also its expected price range.
If these were really its specs and the price range it will be at, then I would personally choose the OnePlus 5 over any premium smartphone for 2017. With that being said, I personally think that the OnePlus 5 has the better rumored specs over the Nokia P1.
