'Nintendo Switch' Pre-Orders Getting Cancelled Because Of Low Supply

A lot of people are excited over the release of the Nintendo Switch, but it looks like not everyone would get a chance to get their hands on the console come launch day. News has come out that some retailers are actually cancelling some pre-orders since the Nintendo Switch has come in short supply.

Cancelled Pre-Orders

The news comes from Nintendo Today, and they say that retailers have started cancelling pre-orders because the number of the units getting ordered is surpassing the number of units in stock. If the pre-orders were to keep going, retailers might not have any to sell on their shelves once launch day hits on March 3.

Rumors have already come out last month that the Switch already be short on supply. Analysts have already pointed out that one of Nintendo's issues is that they constantly understock with their units, and with the hype building around the Nintendo Switch, it looks like a lot of fans will be disappointed and missing out on launch day.

GameStop Denies Rumors

Retailer GameStop, however, denies that they have been cancelling any pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch. In a statement released, they said, "GameStop has not, and is not, cancelling any Nintendo Switch pre-orders due to allocation issues. We are working very closely to confirm and validate any and all pre-orders of this innovative gaming system."

They said that if any customer who pre-ordered the Switch experiences any problems with their order, they can always contact the Guest Care team to help smoothen things out. That may be a sigh of relief to the people who ordered at GameStop, but those who ordered at Target may be in trouble as the company has yet to comment on the issue.

A lot of hype is building around the Nintendo Switch, and hopefully Nintendo is able to deliver enough units to make everyone happy come launch day on March 3.
