Mobile Video Consumption Will Have Massive Increase By 2021

Cisco predicted that the mobile video consumption will see a massive increase from 2016 to 2021. It was revealed that the annual number of global mobile traffic would then be 78 percent, which raises a little from 60 percent than last year.

The company forecasts an increase from 4.9 billion last year to 5.5 billion in 2021. The number of connected devices will grow from eight billion to 12 billion. The global mobile data traffic will have an annual run rate of 587 exabytes per year by 2021, which will create a 700 percent increase from 87 exabytes last year.

The 5G Technology

According to Fierce Wireless, the 5G technology will have a significant role in the mobile technology. The Cisco's Vice President of Service Provider Marketing, Doug Webster, revealed in a press release that the greater architectural transformations would likewise be expected to support the capacities of 5G.

It was determined that the machine-to-machine devices would grow up from five percent last year to 29 percent or by 1.2 percent per annum by 2021. The Cisco Global Mobile Data Traffic Drivers confirmed that from 2016 of 6.8 Mbps, it would increase to 20.4 Mbps. The mobile video consumption from 60 percent of all internet traffic, will be 78 percent by 2021.

Growth In VR And AR Technology

By 2021, Cisco has predicted that 5.4 billion people would play a significant role in the growth of mobile video. The tech company also noted that the increase in mobile video usage is due to the growing popularity of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), as per Android Headlines. The last year's record was around 18 million for people who used the VR headset. In 2021, 100 million of users are expected to use VR and AR, thereby channeling the said growth in mobile video usage.

It was also conducted that the mobile video usage will have a massive increase, either on live video or recorded. It will post an annual growth rate of 4.1 percent in the Middle East and Africa and 3.2 percent increase in Asia Pacific. However, the increase will only have a minimal factor in North America by 1.2 percent per year and in Western Europe by only 0.5 percent annually.
