Milk Or Chocolate? Which One Is Healthier?

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. According to experts, two of the most popular gifts during this occasion are chocolates. Two types of chocolate are most common to people: milk chocolate and white chocolate. However, when we can only choose one, which will we choose? Above all, which between the two has higher health benefits?

Dark chocolates are one of the most popular comfort foods in the world. When one feels depressed or down, it is believed that chocolates can lift up his mood. There are also several studies which proved that eating chocolates, particularly the dark type, can boost our sexuality and holistic wellness. When we eat chocolate, our brain produces phenylethylamine or PEA which helps release dopamine and norepinephrine which creates the feeling of being in love. However, consuming too much chocolate, whether dark or milk, can also be detrimental to our health. In particular, this can cause heart disease and weight gain among other diseases.

According to a study published in Eurekalert, eating a certain amount of dark chocolates can also provide equal or greater amounts of anti-oxidants such as those that can be provided by red wine, berries and green tea. They also concluded that the darker the chocolate, the sweeter the emotion it can trigger to the consumer.

However, when it comes to affordability, milk chocolate is said to be more budget-friendly because it does not contain pure cocoa compared to dark chocolate. Milk chocolate also has condensed and powdered milk. Therefore, the more cocoa a chocolate contains, the more likely it is to be expensive.

Furthermore, Mail Online claims that milk chocolate also has a number of benefits like its more popular counterpart. The site also added that milk chocolate is not only good for our brains and libido. It can actually help in the weight loss process.

In December 2016, major chocolate manufacturer Nestle said that they discovered a way to reduce sugar in chocolates by 40 percent. This is by hollowing sugar crystals to make them dissolve faster and easier. However, in the end, experts said that it does not matter whether consumers choose milk chocolate or dark chocolate. If eaten in moderation, we will surely benefit from this delicious treats. Most importantly, it will help “spice up” how we celebrate the day of hearts.
