We now have more a little more evidence that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is out in the wild, from a reported benchmark for a device called "Google X." The benchmarks show the device is running Android 5.0.1, though this smartphone might not be the high-end Motorola X Phone we've been hearing about for months, but rather a mid-range X Phone.
The AnTuTu benchmark gives some information about the mystery device. It's running under the name "Google X," though this could be just a codename for the upcoming smartphone. The benchmarks are from a device running in the U.S., possibly Mountain View, Calif. (Google's global headquarters).
The Google X or Motorola X Phone that was tested appears to be a mid-range model, due to the processor listed in the benchmarks. The device is listed as having a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and scored 15,479 points using AnTuTu benchmark. These results would definitely categorize the device as mid-range, compared to the quad-core processors found on many high-end smartphones today. There have been rumors that the X Phone wouldn't be one device, but a series of devices that would also be completely customizable by the user.
The benchmarks also list the operating system as Android 5.0.1, which is the first time we have seen Key Lime Pie appear in benchmarks. The fact that the device is already running Android 5.0.1 means Google is hard at work on Android 5 Key Lime Pie, and it has already received an update.
There were rumors that we might not see a Motorola X Phone at Google I/O, but if these benchmarks are legit, it seems like Google is planning to release this device very soon; possibly at Google I/O in May.
There's no way of verifying if these benchmarks are real, so it's wise to take this with a huge grain of salt. We only have a few more weeks to go before Google I/O and hopefully that will put all of these almost daily X Phone rumors to rest once and for all.
