NBA 2K Players Can Now Join And Play For The Official NBA Teams

NBA 2K players can now join and play with their favorite NBA teams - virtually of course. The NBA and game developer Take-Two are busy laying the ground works for the NBA 2K eLeague for 2018.

The NBA 2K eLeague

Both parties have agreed to develop a virtual basketball association that practically shares the same features as the real one. The 30 NBA teams will start drafting players from around the world. The lucky few will not use NBA players as avatars. Instead, they have to create avatars of their own. They are also expected to devote their time winning virtual basketball games.

Skill is one major consideration but the playing position, build and height are also factors worth considering. Just like in the real world of basketball sports, teams can lose or remove players who don't perform well. To replace them, a big pool of free agents is ready to jump in to fill the void. There is also a distinct possibility that trading between seasons and draft picks will get added too. The basketball association members are expected to get the top performing players that the game has to offer.

The Virtual Team And Season Duration

The NBA 2K eLeague season will typically last for five months in which a champion will emerge. The winning team member will also get to wear a championship ring. Then team name though will be altered slightly. For example, the Sacramento Kings will be known as the eSacramento Kings to differentiate them from the physical team.

This early on, there are speculations that the virtual basketball league may feature all-star weekends. The official announcement was made by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Take-Two head Strauss Zelnick, according to ESPN. This e-sport move is not entirely expected since NBA 2K series is largely based on the real thing. The latest installment to come out is NBA 2K17. Several NBA teams are already venturing in e-sports including League of Legends.
