Apple has officially confirmed that its BeatsX wireless earphones are now available for purchase from Apple.com after an extended period of delays following their introduction in September of last year. Like the AirPods, BeatsX earphones utilizes Apple's special W1 chip that makes switching and pairing between Apple devices nearly an instant.
Apple BeatsX Now Available
According to 9to5Mac, Apple.com is currently quoting short shipping times for the white and black BeatsX, with delivery for Valentine's Day. Apple's official website is also selling the newly-announced gray and blue colors with a longer 2-3 week waiting time.
About Apple's BeatsX
BeatsX earphones are not considered as truly wireless like AirPods, as they also rely on a cord between each earphone, much like Apple's other W1 earphones, Powerbeats3. BeatsX is, however, unique in Apple's audio lineup as it features an all-new design packed with an adjustable neckband.
Unlike Powerbeats3, BeatsX charges over Lightning - which is the same cable as the iPhone - rather than micro USB, and unlike AirPods, BeatsX are available in both black and white from today. Blue and gray colors are also available for order straight from Apple's official website, although you will have to wait a few days longer for them to deliver to you.
Charging, Battery Life, & Official Price
The BeatsX's battery life, on the other end, is rated at 8 hours compared to 5 hours from the AirPods and 12 hours from Powerbeats3. Roughly 5 minutes of charging is already equal to 2 hours of additional playback, while a full charge takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
According to AppleInsider, the BeatsX earphones were originally set for its official launch in Fall of 2016 but was ultimately delayed until February, following some unexpected issues that affected launching of the AirPods. BeatsX is available now for $149.95, $9.05 less compared to the AirPods ($159) from Apple.com.
