Will Smith Turns Down Tim Burton's Live Action Adaptation Of Disney's 'Dumbo'

It has just been reported that actor Will Smith has just turned down the offer to act in the live action adaptation of “Dumbo”. The news just came after the announcement was made that the said actor was still in the talks. But now it has been confirmed he will not be in it.

Apparently, Disney and Will Smith has been in the talks since last month, discussing his role in the “Dumbo” movie. It was going to be an intriguing and challenging role for Smith but turns out he will not be taking the role after all. Deadline has reported that Smith decided to turn down the role because of the usual reason, which had something to do with the salary and the schedules.

Smith is indeed busy this year since he is working on an upcoming science fiction movie, “Bright”, which he stars in. Aside from that, he and Martin Lawrence are trying hard to bring back “Bad Boys” and are currently working together on “Bad Boys for Life”, which Sony Pictures will be handling. The production for the said new “Bad Boys” movie is making progress so Smith is prioritizing this one, too.

The live action remake of “Dumbo” was announced in July 2014 and Ehren Kruger and Justin Springer has taken on the duties of screenwriter and co-producer, respectively. By 2015, it was finally announced that the renowned Tim Burton will be directing the film. This year, aside from Will Smith, Disney has offered Tom Hanks to play the role of the villain and Hanks has yet to confirm whether or not he is on board.

The live action remake of “Dumbo” will be based on the original animated movie that Disney released in 1941. The movie focused on the young elephant called Jumbo Jr., who was given the nickname Dumbo for having huge ears. Dumbo can actually fly thanks to his large ears and the movie heads on to reveal the true meaning of friendship as Dumbo and his mouse friend goes on an adventure in the circus.
