Canadian carrier Koodo seems to be on track to offer more Windows smartphones to its customers, as the carrier has recently confirmed that the entry-level Nokia Lumia 520 will soon make its way to the network.
Nokia launched the Lumia 520 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona earlier this year. The handset has already reached many markets, including India, the U.S. and more, and now Canadian customers can get their hands on the smartphone.
"The Nokia Lumia 520 is coming to Koodo! More details to come," says Koodo's Facebook page.
Koodo is not the only carrier that will bring Nokia Lumia 520 to Canada. A recent report indicates that Rogers will soon offer the handset to buyers; however, the carrier has not officially confirmed the news.
The Nokia Lumia 520 sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution and 233 pixels per inch (ppi). A 1430mAh battery powers the smartphone, which gives up to 360 hours of standby time and up to 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 3G. Unlocked Mobiles is offering all five colors: black, white, red, magenta and yellow for pre-order.
The Nokia Lumia 520 may be ideal for those customers looking to experience a Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphone that fits in a small- to medium-sized budget.
Koodo doesn't have a big smartphone portfolio and at the same time has only the Windows Phone 7.5-powered Nokia Lumia 610 in its Windows phone portfolio. Moreover, the carrier is only selling the pre-owned model of the Lumia 610 to its pre-paid customers only. The handset is missing from its monthly plan list.
The addition of the Nokia Lumia 520 may attract more customers to the carrier, as the popularity of WP8 phones and specially the entry-level Lumia 520 has increased a lot in a short span of time.
