Xbox App For Pizza Hut Lets Gamers Order Without Stopping Play

A new Pizza Hut app on the Xbox 360 lets gamers order a pie straight through the console.

The idea behind the app is that you can link your Xbox account with your Pizza Hut account. It also works through Kinect or voice commands for gamers. This means just a wave of your hand could get you a 16-inch pie with extra cheese. The app, called the Create Your Pizza App, is really for those who just can't bear to put down the controller.

"We're always looking at ways to give our audience more of what they're interested in. If you look at our audience, they love pizza. I mean, who doesn't? It has international appeal, and Pizza Hut is a recognized brand that matches up well with the Xbox brand," Xbox's Larry Hryb told Polygon.

Users can order from the full Pizza Hut menu and then share their choices with friends through Facebook integration. Pizza preferences — basically which kind of toppings you like — can be saved to cut down on ordering time in the future.

"The launch of the ordering app for Xbox Live gamers represents a major milestone for Pizza Hut and sets the tone for ordering capabilities for not only the pizza category, but the entire retail landscape. With today's avid gamers and busy modern families gathering around their gaming consoles as much as they gather around a dinner table, we felt this was a natural next step for Pizza Hut as we continue to own the digital ordering experience for pizza lovers everywhere," said Kurt Kane, chief marketing officer at Pizza Hut, in a release to the Huffington Post.

This could be the start of selling real-world items on gadgets other than smartphones, maybe even the newly-announced Xbox 720. But as many point out, it's just as easy to hit the speed-dial button for a pizza.
