JailbreakMe Creator Comex Interning At Google

One of the most famous jailbrakers of all time, aka Comex, has started interning for Google.

Comex’s real name is Nicholas Allegra, and he used to work for Apple as an intern, after figuring out a way for users to jailbreak their Apple devices with unspeakable ease back in 2011.

On Tuesday, Comex tweeted out to his over 200,000 followers, “In other news, I’m going to intern for Google in a few weeks.” He elaborated by saying that his new opportunity does not involve Android.

Comex’s JailbreakMe app was famous for making it ridiculously easy to jailbreak your device. Users were able to unlock their phones and tablets with the touch of a button by going to JailbreakMe.com on the built-in Safari browser and letting the Cydia app download.

At age 19, and roughly a month after Cydia went viral, Apple was so angry that the company offered Allegra an internship.

But when it came time to accept an extension of his work with the company, Allegra allegedly forgot to respond to an email, prompting Apple to think he was not interested. So they got rid of him a little over a year after he started interning.

“So … no point in delaying. As of last week, after about a year, I’m no longer associated with Apple,” Allegra said, taking to Twitter last October.

He also seemed to imply that there were other reasons for his departure, but that he could not elaborate on them.

“I wasn’t too happy about it, but it didn’t seem like I was able to fix it,” he said. “So that’s what it is.”

Allegra claims that due to his agreement with Apple while under their employment, he would no longer jailbreak their products, even after leaving the company.

He did, however, tweet, ”So…I hear the Wii U is coming out in a month.”

Allegra will work at the Mountain View Google office and is still studying at Brown University.

As he will not be working on Android, apparently he does not like it enough to hack it, and Techno Buffalo speculates that he may work on Chrome OS development.
