‘Lucifer’ Will Have A Season 3; Fox Gives Early Renewal For Series

It's confirmed - "Lucifer" will have a Season 3. Fox recently handed out an early renewal for the series along with three other shows. Season 3 will have 22 episodes.

The drama premiered in 2016 and has been consistently performing on the schedule with several different lead-ins. The current season ranks 50th among broadcast series with a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.2 million viewers in the most recent live-plus-7 Nielsen averages.

Fox Said That The Series Is Averaging 8 Million Viewers Per Episode

According to Variety, the Warner Bros. TV drama centers around Satan (Tom Ellis), also known as Lucifer Morningstar. He relinquished his job as Hell's gatekeeper, and he takes residence in Los Angeles to own a club and solve crimes with the LAPD. Fox said that the series is averaging 8 million viewers per episode.

Fox Broadcasting entertainment chief David Madden said in a statement that "Lucifer" is one of the rare shows that starts strong and just keeps getting better and better. The series now has a secured pickup for the 2017-18 TV season, TV Line reported.

'Lucifer' Is Currently On Hiatus, And Won't Return Until May 1

"Lucifer" is the fourth Fox show to land a renewal. The other three shows are "Bob's Burgers," "Empire" and "The Simpsons." According to reports, Fox is uncharacteristically shy about early renewals this year. Veteran series "Bones" is going to end this year, and the other series are waiting for a renewal.

"Lucifer" is currently on hiatus, and is set to return on May 1. The series is produced in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Aggressive Mediocrity. The characters are created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo, from DC Entertainment. Executive producers of the series are Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson.
