Few iPhone 4, 4S, 5 Owners Switch To Galaxy S4, Apple Brand Loyalty Still Solid

iPhone owners had their brand loyalty tested this month when the Samsung Galaxy 4 became available in stores. Whether they own an older model such as the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 4S or even the latest iPhone 5, some people are making the switch to Galaxy.

Apple users tend to be loyal to the brand and many have most likely owned every generation iPhone device. Samsung's recent Galaxy S4 smartphone appears to have shifted the loyalty of some iPhone users.

"Possibly the last picture to be uploaded from my iPhone is one of my new Galaxy S4," tweeted one iPhone user while she posted a photo of her new Galaxy S4.

Some iPhone owner comments suggest that the almighty iPhone has lost its cool factor, "iPhones are mad wack now, I'm still stuck with this iPhone till my S4 comes in. Smh," tweeted another iPhone user.

Time spent with the Galaxy S4 has somewhat helped shift the attention of other iPhone users, "I just played with a galaxy s4... Excuse me while I go set my iPhone on fire now," another iPhone user tweeted after a hands-on with the Galaxy S4.

Recent data shows that iPhone users are still happy with their devices and those that are switching to the Galaxy S4 don't represent the majority. According to Yankee group, a recent survey showed that only 9 percent of iPhone owners intend to switch to another smartphone. The data was collected from 16,000 participants over the past year.

Analysts over at Yankee Group suggest that Android has reached its peak and that brand loyalty will drive Apple past Android by 2015. "Apple's 'black hole' ecosystem captures subscribers who never leave," Yankee Group said.
