ABC revealed “Once Upon a Time” will have a brand new story for the next season with the current narrative will end in season 6. It was also revealed that two stars which will be guesting in the second half of the season 6 might be part of the main stars of “Once Upon a Time” season 7.
There is no official confirmation of “Once Upon a Time” season 7 yet. In an interview with Deadline, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said she had a talk with Lost alums Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis about potential plots for season 7. She added they had some interesting ideas and they will have another talk in a couple of weeks. The decision for season 7 will be made after the meeting.
However, regardless of the results of the meeting, the current story will end at season 6. “I think they think they would put a little bit of a bow here, and then there is a next piece that comes after that, so they are trying to figure out what that is and how that works,” Dungey said.
A separate report from TV Line, revealed the season 6 finale will introduce two guest stars which might become regular cast members if there would be a season 7. The series is casting a leading man in late 20s to mid-30s. His character is described as someone who was once very optimistic but became a friendless anti-social after some bad experience.
There is also a casting call for a precocious 10-year-old girl named Annie. She is described to be an orphan who came from a broken home. However, her bad experiences only made her stronger. She is also mischievous and does not back down from challenges.
“Once Upon a Time” season 6 returns on ABC on Sunday, March 5. Dungey did not reveal if this new story in “Once Upon a Time” season 7 will be something like a spinoff. One thing is clear, the next season will be a major reinvention.
