The Myth Behind The Game

The story goes on that King Minos waged war against Athens and defeated the nation. As a result, he demanded that for every nine years, seven Athenian boys and girls should be sailed to Crete for the Minotaur to eat. On the third time the event happened, Theseus volunteered to kill the Minotaur and stop the nine year event, thus replacing one of the teens. Upon reaching Crete, Theseus set out to reach the labyrinth but King Minos' daughter Ariadne sees him and falls in love. Having realized this, Theseus promised to take the princess with him after he kills the Minotaur. After Theseus reached his destination, he met the creator of the labyrinth Daedalus. He gave Theseus a ball of thread to use so that he can navigate his way through the labyrinth in which the Minotaur resides. While venturing, Theseus finds the Minotaur in the middle of the labyrinth and fights the monster. As a result, Theseus kills the Minotaur and sails back home but leaves behind Ariadne due to the Gods' interference.
