Everybody couldn't wait for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel has been ramping up promotion for the film to get fans eager about the new adventure with their favorite team of oddball heroes. The trailers are packed with the same type of vintage music, explosive action scenes, and a bit of comedy that audiences loved in the first trip, and a recent test broadcast got a perfect score from viewers.
Guardians Will Be In Different Adventure Till They'll Realize Being In A Group
What fans loved most, was the cast themselves. We'll see our heroes being tested in new ways in the sequel, struggling to get along in close contact and dealing with their fresh-name-calling fame as saviors of the universe. Executive producer Jonathan Schwartz has revealed that the team will split apart early in the film, and a major turnaround of the story is whether they'll decide to be in one group again.
So far, the teaser keeps us hanging, but, there will still be plenty of chances to see the characters cooperating, and verbally embowelling each other with their trademark wit. The latest Guardians of the Galaxy 2 photo from Empire, which you can see above, shows Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) teaming up with Drax (Dave Bautista). Both are equipped with some furious firepower and ready for a fight.
Peter is going to have a lot to deal with in the upcoming film, as he works to become a better leader, deals with the changes brought on by grasping that Infinity Stone, and searches for his ethereal father, Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell). Pratt, who said that working along with Russell was "humbling and exceptional," also described to Empire that GotG2 will only mirror the first film in the most significant ways.
"You can expect to see everything you loved in the first movie, but you're also going to... but it... oh, I should rephrase that. Don't expect to see everything you saw in the first movie. But expect to be charmed and thrilled and entertained like you were watching the first movie."
Drax Is Bent To Fight For Vengeance; Funnier Antics This Time Around
Like in the first hit movie, Drax will still be the literal-minded, destructive warrior bent on vengeance, but director James Gunn promises he'll be even funnier this time around. Some of that joking will likely come from his antagonistic connection with the puckish Baby Groot, but from the looks of this latest photo, it will become funnier ambiance for this movie.
Gunn has also talked about the character's dealings and their own personal expeditions of self-discovery as being the focus of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. A big part of what made the first film so special was that, in between all the breakouts, gags, and universe-shifting-power, was a story with some emotive weight. The cast hopes for the best and might have a chance to have another sequel after this.
