3D Printers, Coming First To A Staples Near You

Staples announced Friday that it is the first major U.S. retailer to make 3D printers available to consumers. Staples will begin selling The Cube 3D Printer from 3D Systems, a leading global provider of 3D content-to-print solutions. The Cube 3D is immediately available on Staples.com for $1,299.99 and will be in a limited number of Staples brick and mortar stores by the end of June.

3D printers have previously been priced much higher than $1,299.99 and have mainly been used in professional settings. Staples is bringing that technology to consumers at a more affordable price with The Cube 3D Printer. The 3D Cube Printer is super simple to set up, has built-in Wi-Fi, is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X, and comes with 25 free templates that have been designed by professional artists. You can order tons of templates online, as well as templates offered by Cubify Rings, Cubify Earings, Cubify 3D pictures and more. You'll be able to print out your own 3D creations right from your home computer.

Staples released the following statement announcing the news:

"Staples is excited to bring the power of 3D printing to our customers, by being the first major U.S. retailer to announce the availability of this innovative technology that lets you create fully formed objects in your home or small business," said Mike Edwards, Staples executive vice president, merchandising. "Staples is known for carrying the latest technology and 3D printers are the most recent example of our commitment to offering every product your business needs to succeed."

The Cube 3D Printer can print objects up to 5.5 inches x 5.5 inches x 5.5 inches and uses material cartridges to make your creations. You can purchase cartridges in a variety of 16 different colors to customize whatever you're creating. If you're the type of person that likes instant gratification, the possibilities are endless as to what type of 3D objects you can create and print right on the spot. The Cube 3D Printer is a very cool accessory for anyone looking to create 3D printable objects. Check out the video below to see the Cube 3D Printer in action.
