“Game of Thrones” actor Iwan Rheon has just been given one of the lead roles in the up and coming Marvel television series, “Inhumans”. Rheon will be playing the role of Maximus the Mad. The head of Marvel Television revealed that they have always wanted Rheon to play out the character.
Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb said that Rheon was charming, roguish, and was still capable of being unexpectedly dangerous at the same. And these were all the angles they needed to bring the character of Maximus to life. Even showrunner Scott Buck has acknowledged Rheon’s acting prowess and that they are very excited about his role.
Rheon’s role in the “Inhumans”, Maximus the Mad, is a member of the royal family of the Inhumans, led by their king, Black Bolton. As described by Buck, Maximus is a complex character—charming, tragic, and villainous. That is true given that Maximus has made several attempts to usurp the throne and even his older brother, Black Bolt had to put a stop to it.
Rheon’s role might be similar to his character in “Game of Thrones”, which was the cunning and evil Ramsay Bolton. Ambitious yet brutal, Bolton was probably the most hated character in the HBO series ever since Joffrey Baratheon’s death. Without a doubt, Rheon suits his new “Inhumans” role and will probably earn more praise for acting.
The Inhumans were introduced in the second and third seasons “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” series as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was then announced that a separate whole new series will be allotted for these Marvel characters and it will be aired on ABC with eight episodes in September 2017. The first two episodes of Marvel's “Inhumans” will make their debut on IMAX, which is a first for a television series, during the Labor Day weekend.
