Select Weapons Carefully

Each weapon type has its own advantages and advantages. Bear also in mind that Aloy is going to fight both machines and human each requiring a specific armament. A video walkthrough is also available here.

Weapon Selection

The rarity of the weapon and modifications made by Aloy can help increase its damage capability. The first weapon in the list is the Lance. Players who use it will have an advantage in close quarter combat. A properly skilled Aloy can also use the Lance to covertly takedown an enemy.

The War Bow generally inflicts a low damage but makes enemy susceptible to other modes of attack. Meanwhile, the Sharpshoot Bow works great as a sniper weapon. Its accuracy though is compromised by its slow loading. The Hunter's Bow is much faster than the Sharpshoot. The damage it inflicts is low but firing numerous arrows while riding a mount can take its toll against an enemy. It's also a medium range weapon.

The Sling is a slow weapon that can unleash elemental bombs. It can inflict damages on multiple enemies within its AOE. The Ropecaster is used for tying down machine beasts. Simply shoot a rope into the quarry and aim the other end to the ground. This will trap the beast and it can no longer run away or harm Aloy.

The Tripcaster are traps triggered by a tripwire. It's useful for giving a painful surprise to enemy patrols unfortunate enough to walk into it. The Rattler works like a shotgun. It has a very limited range but it has a large AOE since it fires several bolts at a time. It's possible to choose and use only a few of these weapons depending on the player's fighting style. Upgrading and trading in for better weapons can also improve Aloy's fighting chance. For an Armor guide, interested readers can find more about it here.
